What is a waterproof breathable membrane? A laminate? What are the different types available? What impacts their life cycle?
These are the questions that we will ask and attempt to answer during the next Sustainability Breakfast on April 11.
We will start by reviewing the different types of membranes that currently exist and the materials used for each in order to clarify the situation.
Next, a round table discussion with membrane manufacturer representatives will allow you to better understand current limitations and what’s at stake during the lifecycle. Each speaker will explain their positioning and their strategic outlook for three specific areas:
(Membranes and laminates, what chemical composition, what impact, what can realistically be improved?)
(Are there ways to reduce the environmental impact by involving both brands and consumers?)
>>Product end of life
(What are the recycling, recovery, and reuse options available? What is the current position of each manufacturer?)
The round table format will allow for an interactive discussion with participants. To answer your questions, 3 speakers from the industry will join us:
– Stewart Sheppard, WL Gore, Fabrics Sustainability Team,
– Sylvie Mangin, Sympatex Technologies SAS, Sales & Marketing Manager,
– Pierre Meneveau, Alpex protection, Technical Director.
For the second half of the morning, we will hold an OSV Sustainable Development Committee meeting to discuss the current projects in progress and define future key sustainability projects for OSV.
