During our most recent cycle of continuing professional education classes, OSV organized a full day dedicated to the European Union’s REACh regulations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).

Our partner, SGS, provided their expertise on the topic and allowed over a dozen participants to better understand the intricacies of these regulations and how to more effectively ensure their products comply. You can read through the full presentation (in French) in the OSV member area by clicking here for a better understanding of chemical substances regulations in Europe.

In addition, the scheduled changes in REACh regulations for 2018 may very well concern your company.
As of May 31, 2018, it will no longer be possible to manufacture or sell (or purchase) on the European market more than one ton per year of any substance produced or imported if it has not been registered ahead of time in compliance with REACh regulations.

This concerns all substances, including natural substances such as essential oils, organic materials such as solvents, metals… alone or contained in mixtures (paints, glues, cleaning products) and will likely impact your business.

You will therefore need to register every substance with ECHA, the European Chemicals Agency.

Here are three documents (in French) that provide more information on the process and chemical substances concerned: importers, manufacturers, and users/distributors.
